Mayor Christian Price
Mayor Christian Price was born in Provo, UT, but moved to Tucson, AZ when he was 1, and grew up there until I moved away to go to college. He graduated from Canyon Del Oro (CDO) in north Tucson and then attended Northern Arizona University (NAU) in Flagstaff, where he received his Bachelor’s degree in English Literature. Christian is a very busy man. He is a Financial Advisor and small business owner. He is a partner in a financial advisory firm called the Sierra Wealth Group and based here and in California. He is also a Jeweler and has a company called Odyssey Jewelers. He loves helping show people how and where to save their money so that they can retire rich someday. He also said, he loves the Jewelry industry for the simple fact of, who doesn’t love to play with gold, diamonds, emeralds, rubies & sapphires!?! But I have really enjoyed both because of the experience it gives me regarding being a small business owner. I love that challenge.
Christian is married to Cindy Price and they have a young family that includes a 13 yr old boy, an 8 yr old girl, a 6 yr old girl and 4 yr old girl. Funny but so true, he said they all keep him hoppin!
Along with this busy work and family life, we ask Christian to tell us about your community involvement, and what he is passionate about. He said “as Mayor I am passionate about all things community and all things Maricopa! This is my home. I want it to be the best place in the entire world to live, work and play, and I try and attend just about every event that held here. We are a young city, only 17 years old, with huge needs and even higher expectations, but together we are making amazing things happen and succeeding against all odds. I/We don’t take NO for an answer and I/we believe in getting things done when nobody believes in us, but US, so watch out for Maricopa we are doing BIG things”!
We always like to know fun facts about our dancers, so of course we asked. Christian told us that in Jan of 1994 he fell off of a 125ft cliff in Oak Creek canyon and walked out. Beat up and bruised but by some miracle I had no broken bones or serious damage”.
When asked why he agreed to dance for this event, he said “I was pressured into it! ha ha JK. Raising money for a great cause like the Boys & Girls club is worthwhile and it was something different. Plus, my wife wants me to learn how to dance”! See, our pressuring paid off. It was great to learn that he wanted to be an Air Force pilot and then fly commercial jets when he was growing up.
Christian reminded us that he “just love serving as Mayor! It is one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever done in my life”.
