Chairman Robert Miguel & Alyssa Mangum
Chairman robert miguel
Chairman Robert Miguel loves to help whenever and wherever he can. Chairman shares “I’ve been truly blessed by the good Lord to have the life I have, therefore giving back is truly an honor”. Robert Henry Miguel was born in Sacaton, Arizona and was raised in the Ak-Chin Indian Community.
Chairman Miguel and his wife, Connie, have seven children (Bobby, Jasmine, Yasmin, Jordyn, Joe, Yvonne and Stella) and one miniature pony named Comet. Growing up he was taught by his parents and grandparents to always do what you can to help others, a lesson that they both share with their children. Their family motto is “How Can I Help You”.
Following in his grandfather’s footsteps, he became Chairman of the Ak-Chin Indian Community. “It’s my people who continue to motivate and drive me to strive for opportunity, perseverance, dedication, and hope. Leading my people has been the greatest honor of my life.”, said Chairman Miguel.
Chairman Miguel wanted to participate to help raise money for assisting youth, and because some think he doesn’t know how to dance; but after this, they will all know that HE CAN DANCE!
alyssa mangum
Alyssa Mangum has been the owner and instructor of Alyssa’s Little Dancers for 15 years. Alyssa grew up in the best small town dance studio where she learned how important community is to help young dancers grow, which is one of the reasons why she agreed to be part of this event as a Professional Dancer. Alyssa knows that “this event helps the youth of our community. When it comes to the youth, I am all in.” Her love of performing and never turning down an opportunity to dance is a bonus to saying yes.
In her time as a dancer, she had the opportunities to dance with amazing companies and choreographers, David Taylor Dance Theater of Denver Colorado, The San Francisco Ballet, New York City International Ballet, and jazz dance legends, Frank Hatchett and Joe Tremaine. Alyssa’s dance career has been well rounded, and it is that same full range she brings to her dance students.
Many don’t know but Alyssa loves shoes but hates feet, which is ironic with the industry and career path she has chosen. “They are dirty and gross if they are out wandering. If they are in shoes and beautifully pointed, then they are safe”, said Alyssa. No doubt her team of beautifully dance shoe wearing duo will take their best shot at winning the mirror ball!
